This is the last in a set of three photoshoots for the lovely Violet, spread over a year [and a bit] of her life. Documenting a few choice ages in the first year of life is always interesting as there is so much change - check out the last composite to see just how much Violet has. Violet is very close in age to my own daughter and they often play together. So photographing her was hardly like work at all but I still strived to capture a range of images using various techniques. It was a beautiful day, blue sky and bright direct sunshine. Nice for a barbecue but tricky for portraits when there is no open shade. Which there was in the back yard when we played with a bubble maker but not so much on the allotment we visited. In those circumstances you really only have two choices when working without an assistant; turn the subject's back to the sun and expose the image carefully or use fill flash - a lot of fill flash. Hope you like them. If you are a new parent and would like to discuss a portrait session or two then please get in touch via my website.
