Wedding - Amber & John

Now this wedding is really special. Why? Because Amber is my first sheila... sorry, Australian bride. You have no idea how glad I was that Newcastle managed to stay sunny for this October wedding - I don't think that Amber's family would have forgiven us! The bride's decision to get ready in the Malmaison on the Quayside was like manna from heaven - another chance to shoot on the Quayside, with a gorgeous bride in a great dress - yes, I was definitely looking forward to this one. The light was harsh but there is plenty of shade down there and it gave me the opportunity to get a few different looking photos by shooting into the sun - of course I had to use the Millennium Bridge, who wouldn't? The wedding and reception were all at Jesmond Dene House and for a change, after the ceremony, I took the bride & groom to other end of Jesmond Dene to Armstrong Bridge - which turned out to be a major success from my point of view as the light was stunning and barring the odd pedestrian the backgrounds plentiful and really photogenic. Another great couple I feel honoured to have photographed.
Enjoy.

Wedding - Catherine & Ian

I can't believe I forgot to post this wedding before now! Shot in July at St Mary's Cathedral Church, Jesmond Dene House and the Baltic Riverside Terrace Bar it was a unique event. Gorgeous weather, superb venues, fantastic bride & groom and a decent amount of time to get shots of them (for a change). The light toward the end of the day was amazing, especially for a mid-summer date - saturating colours, reflecting off the river and giving me any number of photographic possibilities. Catherine & Ian had planned such an amazing day it made me wish I was guest at the time - thinking about it now though, I actually feel more privileged to have documented their day for them.
I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did taking them.

Wedding - Claire & Michael

Another winter wedding with amazing weather! Lucky doesn't begin to cover it. Horrible all week and then just about perfect all day 'on the day'. Doesn't stop me when it's bad but it does give me a few more options when the sky is blue. Winter light is just gorgeous, the only trouble is it doesn't last very long! So, the objective for this wedding was to shoot fast and keep 'em moving. Although I'd photographed a ceremony at this couple's church before I was really looking forward to the reception venue - Wallington Hall. A really magnificent Northumbrian stately home that I was last at around 13 years ago for an open-air classical concert (would you believe with with my girlfriend who I married some 7 years after). I'd no idea that it was available for a wedding (in this case a stunning marquee) before meeting Claire and Michael but it turned out to be every bit as wonderful as I was hoping - apart from not having enough hours in the day! I could have shot for two days in that evening light, there was that much scope. Fantastic. A great couple and a great wedding. I can only hope that all the midgey bites I suffered that evening to get these shots are appreciated - just kidding, all part of the service.
Enjoy.
